Hyrox Shakeout Run Sydney

Our first VPA event in Sydney brought the HYROX community together for an evening of movement, connection and race-week energy at The Yard Gym Eastgardens.

Athletes, first-timers, supporters and local runners joined us for a VPA HYROX Elite Team Q&A, an easy 5K shakeout run, recovery drinks, pizza and post-run chats. A little rain shower rolled through, but no one backed down. The crew kept moving, supported each other and brought the energy from start to finish.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported our first VPA event in Sydney. Your energy made the night what it was!

Key lessons from the vpa HYROX Elite Team:

  • Start controlled and avoid going out too hard early
  • Use the run sections as recovery windows between stations. This is where your heart rate should come down.
  • Don’t change your routine during race day. Stick with the same diet, same supplements, same training.
  • Focus on the stations you struggle with by doing them more often in training
  • Stay calm, trust your training and move with purpose
  • Lean into the community around you
  • Reward your effort with a proper recovery period, whether it’s a sauna, a good meal or a Yo-Chi.

Finally, keep your race-day fuel simple. Like our Elite athletes, use the same supplements in training and on race day - with Hydration Fuel before you start, RPG Gels during the race and Whey Protein Isolate after to support recovery.

Thank you to The Yard Gym Eastgardens for hosting us, and to Luke Penny, Caden Penniket, Rhyz Greene-Kelson and Lacey Paaka for sharing their time, experience and race-day advice.

Sydney, this was special. Thank you for showing up!
