What should I mix GABA with?
GABA can be taken in water alone or added to any other drink you are taking before bed. Some people like to take it in a relaxing tea, or with some casein protein.
How much is a serve of GABA?
One serve of VPA® pure GABA is 2g. One 200g tub of VPA® GABA has 100 serves. We recommend weighing a serve of GABA with microscales to obtain an accurate serving size. If you do not have microscales, a flat standard teaspoon of GABA is around 3.4g. ½ teaspoon will provide around 2g dose.
GABA dosage
For muscle growth, a dose of 3-5g of GABA per day is recommended. For sleep, VPA® recommends taking 2g of GABA around 30 minutes before bed.
How to take GABA
For maximum benefit, GABA is best taken around 30 minutes before you plan to go to bed. You can take it on its own in water or in another liquid of your choice. Some people mix GABA with casein prior to going to bed. Together they combine to give you a great night sleep and maximise your muscle building and repair.
Amino acid clumping and how to store GABA
The natural properties of amino acids mean that they tend to take on moisture. This is why silicon moisture sachets are added during the packing process. Once your GABA is opened it will start to take on moisture and should be stored in a cool dark location to keep it as moisture-free as possible. If your GABA starts to clump, rest assured that although it may be more difficult to scoop but it will still work just as well.

When taking the recommended dose, GABA rarely has any side effects. Those taking larger doses sometimes report digestive upset and sleepiness.
