Why 75 Medium and not 75 Hard?

If you were to run a marathon, would you go all out for the first 10km, use up all the fuel in your tank and simply hope for the best for the remaining 32.2km? Probably not. This is typically why New Years Resolutions fail. We got out too quick and fall off even quicker.

As glamourous as it is to be able to flaunt the completion of the 75 Hard Challenge, this challenge is more focused on mental toughness and resilience as opposed to habit building which is our core focus for the VPA 75 challenge.

“When we set big, overwhelming New Year's resolutions, we also set up the expectation that we’re going to turn over an entirely new leaf on January 1. But real change requires incremental changes so we can make ourselves comfortable with the change and ensure the change becomes habitual”
– Jennifer Kowalski

The challenge objective is to create long lasting healthy habits to create a happier and healthier you. Within the 75-day timeframe you will have surpassed the amount of time that studies suggest it takes to build a new habit. We hope that once you complete this challenge you will be able to sustain these daily tasks and live a happier and healthier lifestyle.

5 things to remember when completing this challenge:

1. This is not the 75 Hard Challenge. If you slip-up during this challenge that does not mean your challenge resets and you must start from square one, it simply means you try again tomorrow. We understand the all-or-nothing mentality that comes with New-Years Resolutions. Remember this is not an all-or-nothing challenge, this is an attainable and sustainable challenge to set you up for long term success.

2. Remember your Why! If we know the exact reasoning and motive behind our decision to commit to something in our lives, we can use it as the reference point for all our actions and decisions. This will come in extremely helpful in the circumstance that we lose sight of the ultimate goal. We recommend that you write down your why on a piece of paper and stick it on your fridge.

3. This challenge isn’t just for 75 days, it’s for life! The objective of this challenge isn’t to complete 75 days in a row to then throw out everything we have learnt and committed to out the window. The objective of this challenge is to create small habits that stick to promote a happy and healthy lifestyle.

4. This is not a weight-loss challenge.Whilst you might find weight-loss is something that you experience by implementing the daily task VPA has set for you – this is not the objective of this challenge. The objective of this challenge is to create sustainable healthy habits which in turn may promote weight-loss. Weight-loss ultimately comes down to being in a calorie deficit which you can find out more about here. We recommend focusing on building healthy habits before committing yourself to a weight-loss phase.

5. You’re not alone! Losing sight of the end goal? Remember that you are not on this journey alone. Need an extra push of motivation? Make sure you pop into our Facebook Community Page for a chat with our extremely friendly and motivating community.
